Mounds Park Ski Jump: St Paul, MN ( 1921-1938) : The Mounds Park Ski Jump was located near the intersection of Burns Ave and Johnson Parkway and was patterened after a well-known ski jump located in Odnas, Norway. The Mounds Park Jump was erected in time for the 1925 ski season. The Hill at Mounds Park was typical of the hills in those days. It had a horizontal takeoff, a high H/N ratio and an abrupt transition curve on the landing hill. as a result, the ski jumper would gain too much height and experience a "hard" landing with difficulty encountered recovering through the "sharp dip" on the under hill. The first sanctioned tournament was held February 15, 1925 with a hill record set by Anders Haugen of 109 feet. The Mounds Park jump was utilized by the St Paul Ski Club until heavy winds destroyed the jump in August of 1939.

Exerpt from the book "On Wings of Wood" by Tom Harrington and Wally Wakefield.
